What Do I Do Now?

RESEARCH:

This website was created to get you connected with the Queen Creek High School College & Career Center and for your to learn how to connect and access the information that will help you with your post-graduation planning.

Our primary resources are housed in the 9-12th grade Google Classrooms, which offer career exploration tools, detailed college information, contacts and resources to assist you in your research and the planning of your post secondary path. No matter what path you choose, College/University, Trade/Apprentice, Mission, Military,or joining the workforce, we can assist with making sure you are prepared and ready to walk the path to success.

PROGRAMS & EVENTS:

Weekly The CCC hosts presentations from various Colleges, Universities, Vocational Schools and Military recruiters during A-Hour.

In the Fall, The CCC hosts a College Fair followed by a Career Exploration Fair in the Spring.

Plus, workshops for FAFSA, College and Scholarship Applications are offered throughout the year.

PARENTAL ROLE:

Parents are welcome to participate in any aspect of college and career planning. You can make an appointment with Mrs. Price or Mr. Peterson to discuss individual plans or attend any of the weekly presentations or workshops. Your involvement and collaboration on a post-secondary plan is vital to the ultimate success of the student.

FAFSA

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is a form completed by prospective college and career/trade school students to determine their eligibility for student financial aid, grants, loans and even some scholarships.

The FAFSA Application opens on October 1st each year, it’s free—and quick to complete (20-30 minutes).

The official application can be found at FAFSA.gov We also use GoingMerry.com who hosts a support tool to make FAFSA completion easier.

ACT & SAT Testing

The ACT test measures what a student already knows. It covers material that the student should have learned during high school. The SAT test is used more as a predictor of what a student is capable of learning. It deals with material that the student may NOT have learned in high school.

Either is accepted for college admission and scholarship applications. QCHS hosts the ACT Test for Juniors in the spring.

East Valley Institute of Technology

EVIT is a specialized school that offers high school level technical training. Completion of a
series of courses may qualify students for industry-recognized certifications. EVIT training can also lead to advanced education in the students’ chosen fields of study at the post-secondary level. Students attend EVIT courses one-half of each day while the other half is spent at QCHS.

Scholarships

Most people assume scholarships and grants are reserved for students with special qualifications, such as academic, athletic or artistic talent. While true, awards are also available for students who are interested in particular fields of study, who are members of underrepresented groups, who live in certain areas of the country or who demonstrate financial need. A student in any grade can get started with Going Merry.

Seniors have the most opportunities, we update their Google Classroom weekly and share applications as new scholarships open.

We also host a custom Scholarship Calendar to help students plan and prioritize their application process.
